How to upgrade

Upgrade your plan from Settings > Billing in your dashboard. Clicking Upgrade redirects you to a Stripe Checkout session where you can enter payment details.

After checkout completes, your plan is upgraded immediately:

  • Higher monitor limits are available instantly
  • Shorter check intervals can be configured right away
  • New alert channel types (Slack, Webhook) become available
  • Additional status pages and team member seats are unlocked

What happens when you downgrade

When you downgrade to a lower plan:

  • Data is preserved — No monitors, status pages, or historical data are deleted
  • Excess monitors are paused — If you have 15 monitors and downgrade to Free (limit: 5), the 10 most recently created monitors are automatically paused
  • Check intervals adjust— Any monitors with intervals below the new plan's floor are adjusted upward
  • Extra status pages go private — Excess status pages are set to private (not deleted)

You can always upgrade again to re-activate paused resources. Nothing is permanently lost on downgrade.

Managing billing through Stripe

PingGuard uses Stripe for all billing. From Settings > Billing, click Manage Billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal where you can:

  • Update your payment method
  • View and download invoices
  • Switch between plans
  • Cancel your subscription

Payment failure

If a payment fails, you have a 3-day grace period to update your payment method. After 3 days, your account is automatically downgraded to the Free plan. No data is deleted — you can upgrade again at any time to restore full access.

Data retention

Raw check data retention depends on your plan tier. Aggregated data is retained longer:

Raw checks7 days30 days90 days
5-min aggregates30 days90 days1 year
Daily aggregatesIndefiniteIndefiniteIndefinite

A nightly job automatically cleans up expired raw check data and computes new aggregates. Aggregated data powers your dashboard charts and the 90-day uptime bars on status pages.

For full details on what data we collect and how it's handled, see our Privacy Policy.

Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. When you cancel:

  • Your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • After the period ends, your account reverts to the Free plan
  • Excess monitors are paused, not deleted — you can always resubscribe

To permanently delete your account and all associated data, use the Delete Account option in Settings. This is irreversible.
